The pink land iguana is a rose-colored iguana found only on the slopes of Wolf Volcano on Isabela Island in the Galápagos. It is critically endangered, with roughly 200 to 350 adults remaining, and was described as a species only in 2009. Threats include feral cats, rats, and volcanic activity. The first wild hatchling was recorded in 2022.
Best time to see it
Restricted year-round to the northern slopes of Wolf Volcano, Isabela Island; not accessible on standard itineraries.
