The Galápagos lava lizard is a small, fast ground lizard found across the central and western islands of the archipelago. It is endemic to the Galápagos and is the most widespread of the archipelago’s lava lizard species. Males do push-up displays to defend territory, and individuals can drop and regrow their tails. It feeds mainly on insects and some plant matter.
