The common bottlenose dolphin is a widely distributed toothed whale often seen bow-riding boats in Galápagos waters. It travels in social pods offshore and near coastlines and is one of the most frequently encountered dolphins in the archipelago. It ranges across tropical and temperate oceans worldwide, and the IUCN lists the species as least concern.
