A highland giant tortoise reserve on San Cristóbal, the David Rodríguez breeding center at Cerro Colorado, opened in 2003. It lies about 22 kilometers southeast of Puerto Baquerizo Moreno. Tortoises range across a large semi-natural enclosure past rearing pens and nurseries, making it the island’s main tortoise-viewing site.
